Five Rules Businesses Must Follow To Succeed on Twitter

As I was reading an article written by a friend and fellow blogger, Kfir Pravda, entitled “What Companies Are Missing in Social Media Marketing”, I started to think about Twitter, social media, and whether all the hype was really justified. My conclusion, as I am sure you know by now, was that yes, social media can be an amazingly effective tool and can assist you in reaching a wider and more relevant audience then any other tool; IF USED CORRECTLY.

5 Ways To Guarantee You Won’t Get Followed Back on Twitter

Before I begin, let me just say that I do not like reading articles written in a negative tone, especially when they are essentially telling you how to do something. However, I could not name the article 5 Ways To Guarantee you WILL Get Followed Back, because that is just not true. I am going to share my decision process wen deciding whether to follow someone back, but even if you follow my advice, it does not guarantee anything. On the other hand, if you do NOT do these steps, in most probability, people will not follow you back.

How YouTube Made United Airlines Beg for Forgiveness

If you have not yet heard this story, you must read the first post “The Power of Social Media; United Breaks Guitars”. Long story short, a country singer from Canada had his $3,500 guitar smashed to bits by the staff of United Airlines. He pleaded with them to compensate him, only to be met with a full year of bureaucratic processes, which all led to a big fat “NO”. At this point, he threatened them that he would produce 3 YouTube videos that will tell the story and distribute them using social media. They of course laughed at this threat.

7 Valuable Lessons Twitter Has Taught Me About Life

On many occasions, I have heard people debating whether social media in general, and Twitter specifically, is a passing trend or is here to stay. Can you guess which side of the debate I am on? I do not kid myself, I do not think it will always be as popular as it is now, but even Myspace, which is not exactly the most popular social network anymore, has 185 million users and 45 billion page views per month, not too shabby.

Exit09 Turns your Idea Into A Business, All Expenses Covered

This is a little different than most of the things I post about, but the big names involved in this opportunity made me want to share it with my readers. Basically, a company called Exit09 has recently launched a contest for people to present a short demo of an idea that will enhance the Web, and the winner basically has the idea implemented and completely funded. It is really as simple as that. If you look at the names of the companies supporting this initiative, you will understand how serious this contest is.

Social Media and Mobile Apps Join Forces Using AppBoy

The mobile industry seems to be in a major transformation over the past few years. If a few years ago, the “in” thing was to have a cool looking cellphone, one that was as thin as lets say, a razer blade, the new greatest thing in today’s mobile arena is of course mobile apps. Which platform has the most, coolest, and easiest to install apps? Which app interface meets my needs the best, the Apple App Store, the Blackberry App World, or the Android App Market? Apps is what it is all about in the cellular world.

Top 5 Ways To Optimize your Twitter Network

As you know, I am a big believer in Twitter and its potential as the future of online communication. You should also know that Twitter can help you achieve a lot of your goals, but contrary to popular belief, Twitter is not a magical solution. One cannot join Twitter and expect immediate results without investing substantial amounts of time building up your network. However, the next question asked by every person on Twitter at some point or another, is how do I build up my network? How do I get more followers?

RankAbove: A True SEO Miracle

If this blog has taught me anything, it has taught me how powerful search engines are and specifically Google. All it takes is a high ranking on Google and you can become a very successful site within no time. Now I have to admit, I know close to nothing about Search Engine Optimization (SEO) besides that every website needs it. If you do not know what SEO is, basically, it is the method used to optimize websites in order to achieve a higher ranking on Google.

BlackBerry and Gmail: Can’t We All Just Get Along?

Anyone who knows me personally, or has observed my practices when it comes to gadgets and technology, knows that I pay attention to small details. As you know, I recently began using a Blackberry Bold as my primary handset, and all in all, I am very happy with it. I wrote about my first impressions and why I am not trading it in for an iPhone. I wrote about my issues with RIM as a company and with Blackberry as a phone, but I felt a strong need to emphasize one serious issue with RIM’s offering.
